Highway Bridge Plaque, 1993

Highway Bridge - 1991. This concrete and steel bridge replaced a 1916 steel truss bridge on brownstone block supports which carried earlier wooden bridges. The brownstone blocks from the demolished supports were reused to replicate the railroad bridge arches along the south bank of the Farmington River. The Hartford to Springfield trolley bridge existed from 1904 to 1925 adjacent to and east of the brownstone supports. From 1930 to the present most travel to Windsor has been via automobile. Donated by the Windsor Lions Club. 1993.
