Into the Future, 2008

The Windsor Art Center commissioned this sculpture from Windsor scrap metal artist Lon Pelton to celebrate the Town of Windsor's 375th Anniversary. It was unveiled in September 2008 on Palisado Green and later installed beside the Windsor Art Center at the Freight House. Lon Pelton is well-known in Connecticut for his recycled scrap metal sculptures. Working with an unlikely assortment of metal pieces ranging from nuts and bolts to tractor parts, from silver spoons to discarded propane tanks, he crafts unique pieces which reflect his view of the world. Some of his sculptures offer political commentary and others convey a more whimsical delight in the natural world. Lon see both beauty and value in discarded objects. He is able to weave humor and passion into art which captivates viewers of all ages. Copyright 2015 Windsor Historical Society.
