Shad Derby Plaque, 1976

This bridge spans one of the finest areas for shad fishing, which has led to the development of one of Connecticut's largest spring celebrations - the Windsor Shad Derby. From its 1955 start as a fishing contest, it has grown until today over 75,000 people participate in this annual event. This plaque is erected to honor the community spirit which fostered and has nurtured the Shad Derby. Erected 1976 Windsor Jaycees.
