Windsor/Deerfield Garden ApartmentsIn 1954 new ordinances permitting garden apartments in Windsor were approved. Previously, concerns about the number of families per acre, increased school costs, maintenance upkeep, and traffic problems had been cited as reasons not to allow garden apartments in Windsor. These objections were overcome and as a result, I. R. Stich Associates planned a new 115-unit complex called The Windsor Garden Apartments, which opened in 1960. In 1962, the same company built six more brick buildings north of the existing units and called them The Deerfield Garden Apartments. These were the test case for all apartments and condominiums that were built in Windsor. © Windsor Historical Society.
